The Closet of Hope

Closet of Hope

This is a clothing ministry, launched  August 3 of 2007. Members have collected new or “nearly-new” clothing to be made available to those who may need good clothes for school or work.  Open the first and third Friday of every month, other hours by appointment.  For information or to receive or donate clothing, contact Jennie  at 301-753-5877 or DeLois  at 301-814-0221.

Donations are always welcome, but:  We have a greater need to find people who can use the clothes that have been donated!

The same team who operates this clothing ministry also maintains a small food pantry, supported by the monthly Food Offering Processional.

The Closet of Hope, housed in the Alpha Room

The Marbury Church of God, 4825 Bicknell Road, Marbury, MD, has

been enriched with the gift of giving. We are inspired to reach out to one
another. We feel the needs are out there and have felt the need to reach
out to the community.
In 2007, following more than a year of

prayerful preparation, the church launched
a clothing ministry known as the
“CLOSET OF HOPE.” It is now housed in
the original church building (built in 1912),
a one-room structure we call the “Alpha
Room.”
The generous gifts of church members,
friends, and others have filled the Closet almost beyond its capacity, and
this appeal is being made to inform the public. Deloris, one of the
founders of the Closet, says: “Our community needs to know that our
Closet of Hope is here for our sisters and brothers. Everyone is welcome;
No proof of residence or income is required.”
Come to the “Alpha Room,” located behind the church. We are open the
first (1st) and third (3rd) Friday of every month from 9:00 -1:00, or you
may call at any time for an appointment. Numbers to call:
Deloris: 301-814-0221
Jennifer: 301-753-5877
We offer “New” or “Good As New” clothing,
shoes, baby items, small items, small toys,
etc. There is also a small food pantry. All
are FREE.

The Closet of Hope is a ministry of the
Marbury Church of God. As Pastor Bob Buehler says, “This is one of
many visible ways we can express the love of God through action.”
