Closet of Hope
One of “many mini-missions” at the Marbury Church of God
The Marbury Church of God, 4825 Bicknell Road, Marbury, MD, has been enriched with the gift of giving. We are inspired to reach out to one another. Feeling the need to reach out to the community, we offer “New” or “Good As New” clothing, shoes, baby items, etc. There is also a small food pantry. All are FREE.
In August 2007, following more than a year of prayerful preparation, the church launched a clothing ministry known as the “CLOSET OF HOPE.” It is housed in the original church building (built in 1912), a one-room structure we call the “Alpha Room.” Members have collected new or “nearly-new” clothing to be made available to those who may need good clothes for school or work. Please do not donate electronic items. The generous gifts of church members, friends, and others have filled the Closet almost beyond its capacity, and this appeal is being made to inform the public. Deloris, one of the founders of the Closet, says: “Our community needs to know that our Closet of Hope is here for our sisters and brothers. Everyone is welcome; No proof of residence or income is required.”
Come to the “Alpha Room,” located behind the church. The hours are 5 to 7 pm on the first and third Thursday of each month. You may call at any time for an appointment.
If you have items to donate, we do ask that you call to make arrangements for when to bring them, or bring them in during open hours. Please make every effort to avoid leaving items unattended, as this could result in the items being damaged or lost.
The Closet of Hope is a ministry of the Marbury Church of God. As Pastor Bob Buehler says, “This is one of many visible ways we can express the love of God through action.” Overflowing With Clothes and More— Free to All at “Closet of Hope”
